This photograph was taken in the summer of 2006, and shows the effect of normal erosion at Beverly Shores, IN. The season was also one of the warmest on record for northern Indiana. The speck on the photograph is a sample of the pollution that was in Lake Michigan at the time the photograph was taken. (75.1 KB, 1024 x 768)

This rock formation was a result of efforts to prevent homes built near the lake from collapsing due to beach erosion during the 1980s, when lake levels were at an all time high. Historical note: Many of these homes were placed here after the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago was held in the 1893. (106.7KB, 1024 x 768)
